Virginia Choral Society applicants must have a love for all kinds of music. Candidates for membership must be able to read music and possess an accurate and good command of their voice. Membership requires a commitment to Monday night rehearsals and a willingness to work on music outside of the scheduled structured rehearsals. VCS accepts both high-school-age and adult candidates for all voice parts. Prepared music, while welcomed, is not required for the audition. 

 

Formal auditions for each concert season (August–May) are held in January, May, and other times as needed.

VCS encourages, but does not require that singers be fully vaccinated. We have seen how quickly Covid can spread within the chorus, and feel this is the best protection against serious illness.

NOTE: If you are a previous member who did not sing with us during the 2023 - 2024 season, you will need to re-audition.
